I thought of this, but the way the problem is worded is such that the bicyclist experiences discrete increases in velocity, which would make the graph of velocity over time discontinuous at each hour. Thus, though he bypasses the speed, he never attains it exactly. You cannot linearly interpolate the answer over this interval. It is only upon decelerating, when v = v_0 + a*t that his velocity slows to the exact amount.
I have to wonder if Amazon will see a jump in their TV sales as a result of this.
I mean, look, there's now a non-zero chance you could get an assault rifle. One trip to Tor later, you could be swimming in Bitcoins. And in the event that doesn't happen, you still have a TV.
Rather, Monsanto demanded a reasonable royalty for the research-use made by the defendants. Monsanto argued that the use of Monsanto's invention in DuPont's labs and Pioneer's test fields gave those companies an "improper head start" in making the GM seeds.
Response
Lamb's bizarre theory of small "i" vs. big "I" site-jacking is just sad. There's simply no factual basis for this statement. Searches are not case sensitive and as for the URL, it's always going to be lowercase no matter how the site owner chooses to spell it.
I'm not debating or suggesting anything about this point, I just want to point out that what you quoted directly above this is actually typed with a lowercase L.
"Performance" bonuses? This is a euphemism, isn't it??
I try to avoid Imperial units. They're bad for the liver.
If a premise leaves the train station [Point A] at 10AM riding a bicycle at 3 mph for the first hour and increasing speed by .25 mph every hour for the first four hours before decelerating at a rate inversely proportionate to the incline of the grade [17%], at what time will the bicyclist's speed be exactly 1/4 the average flight speed of the Africanized honey bee? Show your work.
Assuming top flight speed for a honey bee is 12 - 15 mi/h (www.houstonbeekeepers.org/ahbfaqs.htm) and the average may be represented as 13.5 mi/h;
Assuming the rate of deceleration is, literally as stated, inverse to the grade of 17%, and may be assumed to be in miles per hour squared;
We have:
10 AM - 11 AM: 3 mi/h
11 AM - 12 PM: 3.25 mi/h
12 PM - 1 PM: 3.5 mi/h
1 PM - 2 PM: 3.75 mi/h
2 PM - 3 PM: 4 mi/h
After 3 PM, the velocity in mi/h may be represented as v = 4 mi/h - (1/0.17) mi/h^2 * t, where t is the fraction of the hour since 3 PM.
Using v = 3.375 from (0.25 * 13.5 mi/h), we have:
3.375 = 4 mi/h - 5.882 mi/h^2 * t
t = (4 - 3.375) mi/h / 5.882 mi/h^2
t = 0.10625 h
This decimal is equal to 6 minutes, 22.5 seconds. Thus the answer is 3:06:22.5 PM.
Speaking of relaunching the store, I would give money to BestNetTech if they could convince bob and OMG Pirate Mike guy to co-star in one or more podcasts.
If you're open to audio, I'd like to hear interviews in the podcasts. You could condense more dialogue into a podcast than you've been able to in previous text-only interviews. I realize not all interviews may be able to be held through this medium, but I would definitely be interested in the additional content.
A BestNetTech 'week in review' podcast would be useless to me, as I check BestNetTech four days a week anyway. A spoken review is rather a waste of the medium - I don't need someone to tell me what I can see is plainly available.
I'm excited about the idea of podcasts, though I probably wouldn't be able to check them at work (policies against streaming and all that).
Where's the OMG, Pirate Mike guy? I actually want to see him try to twist this news into an insult to Mike.
I don't think he can.
just leave* ffs (speaking of ignorant fucks)
The irony being that most 'ignorant fucks' would probably just their router name as the default myrouter_0548 or whatever.
> better than McCain
I dunno. At least McCain believes he's doing "the right thing", whatever that means to him. On the other hand, I think years of business have eroded Romney's moral sense.
Or maybe, just maybe, taxes and the economy are intertwined? Maybe even... codependent?
I mean, I know it's a stretch, but I'm just gonna go with it.
It looks like a lot of people are missing the second half to #4: "Instead, impose a consumption tax, designed to be progressive to protect lower-income households."
Thus, if you are poor and you want the ability to invest your income, you have that option. You'll simply pay a slightly higher rate on things you do purchase.
"... a new copyright law in Japan whose punishments seemed so disproportionate it was hard to take it seriously"
That's pretty much exactly what Japan does, though: take laws seriously.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Elementary.
I tried to stay as true to the wording of the problem as possible, lest I get skewered for an inappropriate assumption. (No one ever said math had to be practical!)
With that said, in the natural world, your answer is, of course, correct.
