Sounds like you need to actually read the subject book more than any other commenter.
I think they just do it to download all your MP3s for free.
Made me think of that South Park episode:
.... This month he was hoping to have a gold-plated shark tank bar installed right next to the pool, but thanks to people downloading music for free, he must now wait a few months before he can afford it.
I can't believe the labels charged gamemakers anything for promoting their music. Do they think people like my 14 year old son would have ever purchased so many tired songs I have heard a thousand times like Carry On My Wayward Son if it had not been for Guitar Hero?
If this is made into a graphic version for the iPhone, I am sure it would be popular : since so many iphoners think their old-fashioned ringer ringtone is clever, they would love dialing with this.
There is actually a pretty good selection of Pez watches available on ebay. Not quite as many as cellphones with cameras, but still...
on the TD article on the TSA from earlier today, I liked these two suggestions from readers the most:
1. Wear a kilt and, of course, go commando
2. Note that when being harassed by authority figures it's _never_ in _your_ best interests to go somewhere private. Sure it may be a little more embarrassing, but it's ultimately _much_ safer.
If I were flying, I would;
1. Make sure to opt out of any screening that you can.
2. Where hard athletic protection (the kind you use for football or some other contact sport).
3. When the confused / frustrated TSA 'agent' asks you to go to a 'private area', refuse. Tell them, "If you want to sexually assault me, I want as many witnesses as possible."
#2 protects your 'junk'
#3 almost guarantees that they'll end up sexually assaulting you.
I have two Canon printers that can use generic cartridges. The cartridges cost a little over a dollar each when I buy 20. I paid $200 on ebay for the last printer, an open box and for a lot more than list, when they were discontinued since I love really cheap ink SOOOO much. When one of these breaks, I would not hesitate to pay $300 for a printer that used generic cartridges, or better yet, one with tanks that you could easily fill from big squirt bottles of ink. Since it does not look like this is going to happen with a US company any time soon, perhaps China will step up.
So true. OTOH, if Hermione endorsed them I'd buy them in a second.
I don't get this. All the reports I have seen said they took down the video "within hours" of being notified. You keep saying it took two months. Which is correct?
You are right! They should do what some TV shows have resorted to: fuzzing out all brand names that are not sponsors.
You can read a lot on wsj.com before you come up against the paywall, unlike in the past. Even so, the difference is that many more people will pay for quality mostly-unbiased journalism so I don't have much hope for Time following the same model.
His site _should_ be banned and any others that play loud unsolicited music on the homepage.
Any court cases on this yet?
Have there been any cases where someone tagged for downloading music has argued that he had an implicit license to do so since he had bought some blank CDs?
