I honestly don't believe Mexico broke its own laws and there was no direct participation of US forces (other than intel non operational stuff). I'm more inclined to believe Patel is lying pathologically, which is the hallmark of this administration. It's incredible how the criminals in charge of the US government are either carrying out a variety of crimes or aiding criminals somehow like a big mafia.

    This.

Which is why, I believe, many commentators have surfaced the term paramilitary and are using it as a warning.
It's not a warning. It's a fact. And the writings have been on the wall for many, many years now.

The 4th Reich in full speed towards 1939.

Either way, the lesson isn’t really about politics.
Yes it is. Class warfare. It's the most important political movement going on for a few thousand years now. Labor laws were enacted with a lot of slavery, blood and death, including of child workers. Something the rich fight tooth and nail to take back from workers. If they could they would bring back slavery. Now peasants are being reminded of what they are: workforce for exploitation. Doesn't matter if you get $40k annually or $1M. If you sell your labor and you'll get in trouble if you suddenly lose your capability to work then you are part of the working class. And the rich will screw you if they can.

I do hope the military stops taking orders from the orange Adolf. It's about time they put their actions where their words are: to protect the constitution.

International sanitary barriers coming in 3, 2, 1...

Important to note: I will believe institutions are working when I see Trump out. There is some effort to push back but so far we are somewhere near 1934, possibly 1936 in terms of institutions suppression. Trump and possibly everyone in that picture when he took office are criminals that should go Nuremberg. Some upside down.

Most of us can agree that the government shouldn’t lie to its constituents. We can also agree that good government does not involve emphasizing cruelty or furthering racial biases. But this abuse of technology violates both those norms.
Most of us agree that the US Government has gone full nazi already. It's an exception regime. Rules don't apply anymore.

That was six months ago. Enter Grok.

And when people turn to piracy because prices are insane just shout "COPYRIGHTS" and blame everyone but your own incompetence. Also, infinite growth and profits are not sustainable.

We all knew that the "for the children" argument the conservatives love to yield is bullshit for ages. We are now finding out how bullshit it is. We know now it's an excuse for either ped****lia or plain evilness. Or most commonly both.

I'm not surprised but I'm still saddened other countries are doing almost nothing to contain the 4th Reich. Part of this inaction stems from how the US has entrenched itself deeply into the global economy with the dollar. There are various countries divesting from US debt titles and dollar reserves, swapping them for gold but it's too little and too slow. And the prices of gold have gone insane. This should be a lesson for the future. There shouldn't be a dominating currency nor should a single country concentrate that much power. We should be giving the UN more power over many things with a healthy rotation of management among countries and no veto power. Important stuff like ICANN, international trade and a common currency should be under the responsibility of such multilateral bodies and so on. It's a good time to strengthen the UN and make it more democratic while respecting nations sovereignty as much as possible. Sure there will be a few dozen countries with nasty dictators around. But alone they can't do shit because there's no other country with that much power. And some countries out there, north and south, east and west will have to dial back their colonizing impetus and let go of their veto power and possibly their colonies. But it's better than what we have now.

If you exchange games for cars, home appliances an virtually anything else with internet connections it would have positive and lasting impacts. This is very simple and useful. But I'd add that efforts to reverse engineer stuff to make it compatible with latest hardware OR emulate it as possible should be included as exempt from copyright prosecution shifting the burden to the end user. If they have acquired the thing they can do whatever they want including downloading to emulate it in other hardware.

Let the iron lung production lines get that nice cleaning and maintenance, they'll be needed soon. Maybe after reviving the horrors of polio people will become less inclined to question vaccines?

This is one of those moments you actually root for the fight itself or for mutual destruction.

The stupid mindset in question is basically that of an employee who thinks, “Right now I’m getting along really well with my boss. That clearly means that I can stop putting any effort into my work now!”
You see, a more apt comparison would be "Right now I’m getting along really well with my boss. That clearly means that labor and anti-slavery laws are not needed and I can negotiate terms directly with my employer because they are so nice and benevolent!"

I wonder how long till countries start erecting sanitary barriers against US travelers. The loss of trust has already resulted in a massive divest from the dollar going on which made gold prices soar past the stratosphere, dollar value against many currencies falling to 20-month lows and still falling. I personally love it because the US has been wielding the dollar hegemony as a weapon for decades now. US dominant position and presence in the world was never viable in the long term but I honestly thought the decline would be much like an airplane landing and they would remain relevant. The orange emperor turned it into a catastrophic nose dive.

It warms the heart that there are plenty of efforts to fight back the nazi plutocracy that ensnared the world and is bringing it to destruction by many ways such as environmental collapse, humanitarian crisis or biological apocalypse. Oh and let's not forget the nukes. The cynic in me doesn't believe this is enough to stop our extinction and the death of billions of innocent people. But I keep contributing with those efforts the way I can for some reason. I do hope this cynic in me is pleasantly surprised in the future.

Just a small reminder: ICE murdered more than 2 people. The two mentioned happen to be white and born in the US. Persecuting and killing minorities was the highlight of the 3rd Reich.

Not using what I can avoid from these people. Which is very little considering I can't avoid AWS, Azure, Google and the likes. It's also very difficult to avoid physical stuff from huge corporations and otherwise asshole owners. Suzano, a Brazilian company owned by assholes has the monopoly in cellulose production and market, did you know? I can't avoid stuff that needs cellulose. I'm also voting for people that actually want to tackle wealth concentration and attending protests and gatherings to pressure politicians to do the right thing. Have you ever inhaled tear gas? I have and it's not fun. But that's the limit of what I can do both in terms of possibilities and in terms of my own mental health. Also, don't be the person that says "what are you doing instead of complaining in the internet". It's obnoxious.
