    Yeah, and why is there such a stark difference between Norway and Sweden? And why is free speech declining so sharply across Europe? Focusing on America is obscuring the bigger picture of why this is happening in a lot of countries.

    There's beholden to their funders, which are corporate sponsors and viewers. They have no real reason to kowtow to the government but all the corporate sponsors make me suspicious. I've been seeing emergency messages on PBS asking for funds because Trump is attacking them. I bet the donations are rolling in. Regardless of whether it really is an existential threat.

    Even if black native born people were skewing the results, it doesn't change the fact that more immigrants vs more native born births (of whatever color) would improve the crime rate. So be happy that the native population has a low birth rate and don't start encouraging it to be higher. Bring in more immigrants to fill those vacant jobs. Also was this not adjusted for age and male-ness? Youth and being male alone will correlate to criminal behavior so to get accurate results, you need to make sure the demographics are comparable. Immigrants might skew somewhat male and definitely skew younger so even if they were no more likely to be criminal, their crime rate should be higher based on that. If it isn't, wow. They are WAY less criminal than the native population. Deport grandpa and bring in some young guys covered with tattoos.

    It's so easy but of course they'd never do it. Just fix the comcrap portal/app so that you can futz around with the tradeoff between $ and mbps. I get 600 mbps for $60. Maybe I'd rather have 300 mbps for $30. I don't think I have any particular need for that speed. So I try 300 mbps for a while. If I don't like it, I bump it up to 400 or down to 200 till its optimized. Comcrap can amortize the fee to a monthly rate based on my futzing. Customers would feel they have control, if it's too pricey, they can fix it, and the futzing might become an addictive game that makes them less likely to cancel. But Comcrap is a dinosaur company and they just blunder along like idiots till they go under. That works for me too.

    "Giants like ABC, Fox, NBC, and CBS..." Huh? Maybe the companies that own them are giants but broadcast per se is circling the drain. One outcome of a failing business model is to consolidate to try to compensate.

    I'd be anti-Trump even if the "only" thing he was doing wrong was wrecking my 401K. The prospect of being shipped off to a foreign hellhole despite ya know being a citizen with rights is just icing on the top. If only I had some Republican Congresscritters to vote against, I would. But I'm in California and we got rid of ours years ago.

    Being an American means following the Constitution and rule of law. This would prevent or at least mitigate the number of innocent people who are deported just because they have gang tattoos. The people who support this sort of thing are lazy and cowardly. They fear those terrible gang members so much that they will trample the Constitution. They want the easy solution, and due process is not easy. They think stupidly that the leopard will never eat THEIR face so what's the harm.

    Go back to the 19th century and be black, female or gay. Compare the behavior of people towards you then to their behavior now. I think you will find a huge behavioral difference. When you make the argument "America was always bad, what's the big deal," you are justifying Trump's attitude that there's no such thing as morality anyway, and it's all about money and power and making sure your tribe wins. Okay fine. I'm white, wealthy and a citizen of the most powerful nation on Earth so why shouldn't I be happy with the tribal attitude? But I'm not. Most people will lose with the tribal approach. They all should be very unhappy.

Maybe a very smart boss will be secure enough to hire even smarter people, but a moron definitely will not. Trump hires only toadying sycophants who are also incompetent assclowns. And I knew this would happen before he was elected. I can't believe everyone didn't know this would happen. Do they not work for a living? Do they not notice the world around them?     A hundred bucks says Gavin Newsom never gets close to the presidency. A slicked hair Californian who looks like he's from central casting? His looks and style are wrong wrong wrong. Dems need to grasp that looks and style do matter, a lot. They need the right type. Bernie Sanders should start looking for a younger successor, or several candidates. Best not to be Jewish, sorry about that, or any other demographic the deplorables might reject. And not an AOC type. They need to be focused on economic, kitchen table policies because the voters they are trying to sway don't care about Gaza or Ukraine or anything further afield than their neighborhood grocery store where egg prices keep going up.

    The Dems have to stop being suckered into wasting their time playing defense of Republican talking points. When Dems are talking about minor issues like trans women in sports, which impacts very few people, you know they are being played again. They need to talk about issues that matter. I'd say climate change, since that obviously has high impact on the whole world but there are too many idiots who deny it's happening so I'd stick closer to the kitchen table and hammer away at the incompetence of Republicans at making working American's lives better. Above all, always be on offense. Never let them sucker you into defending anything. Notice how Trump never plays defense, he just ignores it and steamrollers on.
