  My particular hatred for them comes from what they did to MySQL. From my perspective, they purchased MySQL just to shut down it's development and protect OracleDB's market share.
  
  I'm a web developer - a huge number of (I might even go so far as to say most) database driven websites use MySQL. The complete lack of features for it compared to other free databases (PostgreSQL, MariaDB, etc) is shameful, and makes my job a lot harder than it needs to be.

  I believe the crime being prosecuted here is just the fact that they conned people into installing the RAT and took over their machine.
  
  The pair using it in Diablo to steal items is just icing.

  You're right, he's not doing that. Because he recognises how using the technology and systems of piracy to legally distribute infinite goods can raise the value of scarce goods.
  
  Also, I distinctly remember Mike explicitly saying that he does not condone piracy.
  
  Just to back up my point, here's a post by Mike explicitly saying he does not condone piracy. I know it's an old one, but I couldn't remember the exact wording for a search for a more recent one that I read.
