A merger won't change anything as all cable companies except possibly Google suck. They get paid by consumers, cable networks , broadcast networks and now internet companies. They are all about providing the lowest possible quality of service without causing a subscriber exodus as they know the competition sucks too. Worst case they lose a sub for a year or two until they bolt from the only competitor in town.
Competition in cable/broadband is a joke. Something should have been done 40 years ago. But the they weren't horrible companies riding on the coat tails of a local monopoly.
Can someone please create a change.org petition for the US to adopt India's IP policies within our healthcare system. The savings they see on that cancer drug makes Obamacare look like a drop in the bucket.
I would sign a petition about IP reform and not ever greening pharmaceuticals.
Also loser pays will stop a lawsuit from suing every party involved in something. That way they only focus on the actual guilty party rather than napalming everyone in a 20ft radius of the issue.
I don't mind the risk of buying a bad book. My issue is the inability to lend MOST ebooks as well as the price not reflecting the cost of a good.
Can anyone explain to me why an ebook can cost more than the mass market paperback edition? Add this to the fact that that ebook is not shareable with a friend and it seems like a large premium to save space on my bookshelf.
I'm guessing it costs more because that books word of mouth is truncated so they need to make up for diminished future sales.
Lower the price to align with actual cost savings, and allow multiple shares (one at a time of course) and ebooks can sell better than regular books.
Kids not knowing who Mickey Mouse is has nothing to do with public domain. It is because they have so much programming to watch between movies and TV shows they just don't care about Disney.
He has lost relevance with a part of the younger generation. That is why Disney bought Star Wars.

Can we either remove the political parties and go independent, or make a system so everyday Americans can vote on the big legal bills? I know verification would be a pain, but it can't take longer than how congress does it currently.
If that isn't feasible why not demand from our congressional members to put these big bills online and let us read it in an easy to understand format so we can note which sections we as a people disagree with.
Oh yeah I forgot...we are a Republic not a Democracy.
Given how accurate they are with the do not fly list and implementation how can this possibly go wrong?
How long until terrorists start using ID theft or just take common names to get the government to arrest obviously innocent civilians without trail our due process? Also how much of those errors will people accept before they revolt?
How long until reporters are arrested for writing about the truth?

So they are complaining that sales dropped by 40% during the recession even though there product was not a necessity and the largest segment of there readership was also the most likely demographic to be laid off during the recession? Now they want the money their hard core fans earned via advertising all the while exposing their product to a new market in a convenient format?
If they were smart they would drop their complaints, hire these rogue elements which are there fans and figure out how best to charge for higher resolution manga libraries for tablet owners (since there target is early adopters who hopefully are employed again). That does not mean charging by the chapter...these are not the"collectable form of manga" and should be steeply discounted. Probably around $20 for a lifetime pass to each stream of manga.
Otherwise they will scare away new users and limit the audience potential. To be clear when I mean stream they would have paid $20 to access all higher resolution version available and to be released of Naruto. Done the same, paid $20 more for the naruto shippuden arc and all future releases are included in that arc.
They might give the first 5-10 chapters of all msnga as a free trail. Arcs that release weakly are $20 for a pass. Those thay are monthly would be $4 for a pass etc.
Granted we all know they will screw it up. But a fan can hope.
With the push towards adding camera's to the gaming experience with Kinect & Move why aren't they making these one time codes similar to QR codes to go along with the written code? It is a pain in the butt for consumers who buy the game "new" to have to type in these extra long codes, where we have to leave the game to activate the codes to begin with.
Why not make it more user friendly for the consumers you appreciate (new purchasers) instead of punishing them by giving them a long work around process to "get in the game"?
Seriously WTF, the good gamers are being punished because publishers are getting penny pinching over used game sales.
I do not think it was right to fire the leaker, but the header did say INTERNAL ONLY on the email, and if they are leaking that info and the competitive companies learn about it, and those raises were mostly to retain employees.
Then those companies know exactly how much higher to make their offers on job listing boards almost defeating the purpose of raises to have retention.
Not saying it is right, but I kind of get why they did it.
After a refund is issued I think the FCC should fine them an additional $10MM or so and start creating real rules and regulations to stop these practices from occurring in the future. Consumers are fed up and nothing is done, and this isn't just with Verizon but with all cell phone carriers who add ridiculous fees and do nothing to make things easy for their consumers.
It is that there is a lot of stuff on Cable plans we really don't want. If they sold it by network (a la carte) at a reasonable price (seriously $60 per month for some channels I can only watch on my TV?) such as $30 per month where we can watch all the channels we want to watch on our TV, phone, Ipad, computer and any other device released as they are released.
Then I can see why I would pay for Cable. Otherwise when my triple play runs out (it is running out next month) I will continue to cancel my cable and only pay for internet and phone (but without all three the only one I NEED is the internet, where yes they will continue to over charge for less service because they have monopolies in individual markets. Sucks for me but I will be damned if I have to pay $60 just for cable TV.
They all suck

Great shirt
I'd buy one if it was $20. $75 for a hoodie seems in line with government toilet costs...3x the actual costs.

Ready.gov?
I completely agree with the problems pointed out in this post. Is there a ready.gov petition I can sign?
Sadly there are tons of issues that need to be addressed that I would easily support.
My issue with ebooks
I don't mind the risk of buying a bad book. My issue is the inability to lend MOST ebooks as well as the price not reflecting the cost of a good.

This is just a scary bill.

Re: Re: creepy
What law is on the books about forgetting to zip your fly? If thay is illegal I am surprised more kids aren't being sent to juvie.
Granted that is assuming he want going commando
Duh

Can't they just use console ready QR codes?

Of all cases
This seems pretty messed up. Saying this is frivolous and copy right cases that are BS are not. just seems wrong.
I typically HATE lawyers
But i almost want to give the lone lawyer a medal of honor for screwing over a legal firm...I guess two wrongs can make a right.

Re: lets see
That is why I am comfortable canceling my cable. All I need is a TV hooked up to the net and a nice TV that accepts VGA or HDMI cables.
It isn't that we don't need to pay for Cable
