IBM for example used to just enable hardware already in the machine when you purchased a feature. The only difference was that they sent out a technician to do it.
People don't bother to update their computers with critical patches and it causes all kinds of problems for others. I cannot imagine allowing people to decide to run on version 1.0 firmware forever when there is a patch that would save the lives of someone in that car or another.
I live in the Houston area (northern suburb) and the Verizon service is horrible. LTE is many times not even available due to poor signal. I was only 5 miles from my home yesterday and I was lucky to get a single bar and 1x on the data side. This isn't a hilly area it's mostly flat. This is just Verizon not caring about their customers.
They pick people based on who they'd like to pat down not on who they think would be a security breach.
I have flown internationally and once domestically in the last month and a half and not once have I been patted down or scanned by the machine. Just the metal detector. Because I'm not a good candidate for a good time during a pat down.
I don't believe that all of the consequences of the DMCA that were pointed out were unintended. I believe the act was sold for one purpose with the idea that it could be used for other purposes as it has been.
I wouldn't have even known the movie was coming out.
I think that it's ridiculous to assume that because someone downloaded an unfinished movie that they wouldn't bother to see it in it's finished form in the theater. I would imagine that it would be compelling to go and see the finished product to see how it compared with the earlier version that was downloaded.
Plenty of companies have done something like this

If they made both ends flippable I'd buy it
Too bad it's only half flippable.
Yet in Spring Texas there is a Godfather's motors
And the businesses sign is the logo from the movies title. It has been running for years without any notice.

That is not their sign but still takes from the original logo.
Premium network... yeah right

Looks like Batman to me
Close enough to let you know they saw the Batman logo before they designed the new one. Does not look like a bat so much as a person in costume.
I'm not certain...

If it weren't for the leak...

Downside
Is that all of people with absolutely no interest in the music on that CD will toss into the landfill. More pollution.
