CTO, Rv'er, biker, pilot, total geek. Real grey-haired CTO who still codes because I enjoy it - and because it annoys the hell out of the little day coders that the old fart can out-code 'em.
Just ordered Woodzies. Best way to handle a trademark bully is to buy the other guys product. Let's run Better Wheel Workshops completely out of stock before the name has to change!
Since one of the items the iPhone backs up to iCloud is all your passwords... and if those are now clear text and no longer encrypted... they now have all the accounts, IDs and passwords of all the iCloud users.
What could go wrong?
As one of the resident old farts around here (71), I have enjoyed all the years of BestNetTech and its great articles. And gotten a TON of laughs from our better trolls...
I own 500+ DVD and Blu-Ray - I can buy a new one every week for less than the streaming services I had. And guess what?
1) They don't get "Locked away in the vault"
2) They don't get "last day to watch is the end of the month"
3) They don't get really bad ads injected every 12 minutes
4) I can watch any time I damn well want to.
Cable was originally the "Paid for, NO ADS" alternative to broadcast TV. Now even the paid for streaming are adding MORE ads? And I want to keep paying them why?
Instead of giving him tons of coverage and reporters chasing him, they should drop him in a very deep dark memory hole. After all, since politicians crave the spotlight, turning it off is the only non-contribution related action that gets their attention.
If the Gov't gave $1B to one of the smaller companies to build out a broadband solution, that company would spend the money building and delivering that solution.
If the Gov't gave $1B to one of the big boys, that company would raise their campaign contributions, raise executive bonuses, and increase the value of the company, thus increasing the value of the stock that all the reps have in their portfolios.
duh.
the last line "... you have to wonder how much merger logistics distracted the company from competent revisions to its privacy and security standards ..."
It is not possible to make competent revisions to "privacy and security standards" when
1) Competence is not in their skill set
2) They don't have any to revise
I turned 70 yesterday, and the 2 highlights of 1953 were the introduction of the Corvette, and publishing of issue #1 of PlayBoy. The Moral Crusade has been after "porn" ever since. They will keep going after it for ever more. It's what they do. They haven't stopped it yet...but they do keep trying, and they keep getting louder about it. And keep finding politicians to jump on the latest moral panic they stir up.
We just have to keep watch, and keep fighting.
Thank you!

Simple decision

Not Possible.
