It's easy to say that someone is doing the wrong thing, it's much harder to actually give recommendations as to what the right thing is.
Are socialized roads bad? How about water and sewer service? Both of those are the most common socialized services in the United States. A government run electricity/internet provider (the Tennessee Valley Authority) is one of the best run utilities in the nation.
I'll admit that socialism isn't the best system for everything but, there are many places where it's a damned sight better than capitalism.
The reason that American federal judges have lifetime jobs is so that they aren't beholden to the President or Congress beyond impeachment. I sincerely doubt that Judge Young is in danger of impeachment (67 Senate votes isn't likely).

Unfortunately, since my state rep and senator are both republican, the GOP has my email address. I also get a bit of Democrat party spam but, based on the email addresses it goes to, it doesn't seem to be from my elected officials providing my email address.
Normally, your point about the petition would be true but this is an official government petition. Once it broke 100,000 UK citizen signatures, the government is required to respond. It doesn't guarantee any particular movement on the topic but, it's a way for the people to show what they think about a particular topic between elections.
If he were eligible to run (he's not a native citizen) I would vote for him for President. After a term or two as mayor he can probably try to make it to the US Senate for New York though.

Senate rules were changed in the past such that nominations can't be blocked by filibuster. You only need a simple majority to get nominations done. If Trump were trying to get his agenda done the legal way, by passing laws through Congress, Democrats would be able to stop it with the power of the filibuster. However, with him running his agenda through mostly illegal executive orders, congressional Democrats don't have much they can do. Others outside of Congress have been fighting by way of lawsuits against the illegal orders to mixed success.

Since the district court awarded legal fees on the dismissal, I'd hope that they'd do the same if they win at trial.
