I wasn't thinking of the extortion angle. I was thinking more about members of the GOP who suspect that some of their major donors are in the files. But don't know which ones. Right now they can deny specific knowledge* and keep getting their money. But as soon as those names come out, they need to choose between losing that donor money or losing the votes from people who don't like them supporting a pedos agenda. *Even if they know for sure that a specific donor is on there, they can still deny it.

Telling us that powerful people are in the files doesn't hurt them that much. People paying attention already guessed that, and people not paying attention probably still haven't worked it out. The thing that the GOP are afraid of is if the public knows exactly who was involved. Especially if they aren't sure which of their donors are in there.

Just wait until someone sues the DOJ over their refusal to comply with the law. Which will keep the Epstein files in the news until the lawsuit is resolved. Probably after a long slog that goes all the way up to SCOTUS.

It's never about competency. It's always about if he follows the playbooks of what investors think a good business does.

I have to wonder if gamers even want that. Or if those that do are imagining something other than what gen AI would actually produce.

When it comes to AI use, how often do you hear about the humans using it being too lazy ? For example, all the lawyers who cited cases that don't exist. So it's not surprised that this game has problems elsewhere. Their laziness isn't limited to throwing AI at it.

The main reasons I'll be happy for the end of the cinema is that they are releasing movies too long for my bladder to handle. While studios and directors are fighting against efforts to bring back intermissions. Having a pause button makes the viewing experience so much better.

I wonder if we will see a situation where Trump blocks Netflix, while Europe blocks CBS/Paramount. Or if Trump will kill the CBS/Paramount deal because he's having a tantrum over a Marjorie Taylor Greene interview: https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2025-12-08/trump-lashes-out-60-minutes-cbs-new-ownership-marjorie-taylor-greene-interview

The slightly less likely way, I believe, is that DHS deports Ceballos whatever the outcome of his case is.
That's optimistic. Looking at the Abrego Garcia case, I expect that DHS will try to deport Ceballos as quickly as they can. Before the criminal case reaches a verdict. Maybe even before Trump has a chance to do anything.

SCOTUS is going to have to do a lot of work if they want us to see a ruling on the selective and vindictive prosecution claims. Or they could take the easy path. The one that avoids embarrassment for the regime. Follow the law and constitution and let these cases die.

They might have less time than you think. https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/candidates/guide/2026/dates2026.shtml

Monday,December 8, 2025 Last day Democratic or Republican Party candidates may file an application for a place on the primary ballot (6 p.m.). [Sec. 172.023(a)]
If they change their district maps after then, they will have applicants who find that they have applied for districts that are suddenly missing important (to them) parts.

I think that the Republicans are aware that the ACA is popular and will likely get more popular if people see the immediate effects of killing it. They fear that coming back to bite them the next time they are up for reelection. So they don't want to repeal it in any way that they can be blamed for. But they also want to look like they are fighting against Obamacare, because that pleases their base.

I note that the only people I've seen who give any data that it's a failure are people complaining that their insurance costs went up. Without making any comparisons about what was covered before and after the ACA. Some admit that they never looked. That they have no idea what their cheaper insurance would and would not cover. Though if Trump does manage to break the ACA, maybe Democrats will copy something that works in other countries next time.

I wonder what answers they would give if someone went to each of them and asked what they had done for their district. Not their state. Not the people in general. Things that specifically helped their district. How many of them would be able to list anything ?

  • Nov 10, 2025 @ 03:51pm

It's worse. We have no guarantee that the Republicans in the Senate will keep their word and hold the vote as promised. Even if they do, it's likely to fail in the Senate. Even if it somehow passes in the Senate, it won't do anything unless it also passes in Congress. Which first requires Johnson to let Congress vote on it. The only upside is that Johnson is going to need to find another excuse to keep Congress closed.

Trump falling for this isn't a surprise. Not after he fell for an AI generated video of himself talking about biobeds.

  • Nov 06, 2025 @ 04:06pm

Right now, some of them seem too scared of Trump to defy him. That probably hasn't changed, as Trump still has the power to primary and replace them. Which Trump will do, even if whoever he replaces them with can't win an election. I don't see that fear going away. Only overridden by something scarier.

  • Nov 06, 2025 @ 11:52am

All the article seems sure about is that what the Trump regime was doing isn't working. Enough people were not fooled. The regime will escalate in response to their loss here. Things could go either way.

I have seen people complaining about supermarkets that replaced the glass doors with screens. Leading to two outcomes: - Screen doesn't show anything useful. So they have to open the door to find out what is inside - Screen shows what should be inside. So they open the door to find out that it isn't.

  • Nov 04, 2025 @ 08:35pm

Does the thing about a cover screen mean that the fridge had its screen lit up constantly ? Because that sounds too annoying on its own to be worth whatever benefit the "smart" part of the fridge adds. Even before the advertising.
