A month without music would be boring. A month without food would be fatal.
I really think you need to get your priorities straightened, thievery aside...
My parents have used HughesNet now for months with little problems. They were told they wouldn't be able to VPN...not true. They were told they wouldn't be able to use Youtube or Joost or Hulu or......not true. The only thing I'm not sure about would be Vonage or some other VoIP service, and that's just because they wouldn't try (there ARE such things as satellite phones...why not?)
All in all, it's not bad. It's expensive, but now that they don't have to pay for Satellite TV (they use the internet) the cost pretty much evens out. They are also so far out they can't get Cable...so for being their only option I'm pretty sure they are satisfied. Hell of a lot better than the crappy 56k!
Anyway != Any way
...yeah just saying...
While I agree that google can't be held accountable for the content of others peoples pages, I do believe they should be held accountable for their own content. If they are caching or linking to, say, Tubgirl, I'm pretty sure it falls WELL within 99.9% of everyone's ethical belief system that it SHOULD be removed. Now, then, the line is drawn at the completely subjective "what is unethical?"
The reason I agree with this article is that I don't believe the courts should answer this very important question for us.
I call shenanigans: "Given this little merger the company may be involved in, it may be difficult to do very much that's unique or innovative."
Microsoft IS unique and innovative... You can't become a monopolistic powerhouse without at least SOME of both. Granted, a lot of it is business/bureaucracy anymore but slamming M$ to sound cool seems beneath you, Mike...
Joe Rogan has a DVD of his standup from 2005. I've forgotten the name but it was one of the funniest comedian shows I've ever seen, I still have it and show everyone I can.
Carlos Mencia has nothing on him...nothing!
Offtopic I know but in all honesty when you say "Joe Rogan" people think "douchebag with that dumbass show where people eat gross crap" when in reality he seems very intelligent and his humor is actually based a lot in science!
3 clicks? Bookmarks > Porn... That's 2 for me!
As a casual gamer I disagree. I would much rather pay NOTHING to experience a game, then maybe pay a little more if I stick with it. All too often I buy a game for $60 to play it twice and move on... If I found something I'd stick with (ahem HALO) then I'd definitely be interested in paying a little more for a bigger experience.
I have no problem with this model at all.
There's a difference between being against a philosophy and being against an organization. Better put, you're confusing 2 issues. There's a problem with the HOW, not with the WHY.
I'm on the same page with Mike here.
No way. Buy a new phone off ebay, you'll pay $50 for something that was 300 a year ago (Razr's are almost NOTHING now.)
Take it to Verizon and make them switch your number over. They can't, under any circumstances FORCE you to extend your contract.
...only if you buy a phone at a "reduced contract" price (which is bull anyway, they're marked up like CRAZY) will you have to extend or sign a contract
I wish I had the resources to patent all my ideas. I'd be one rich guy right now...
...oooh I hate you for even thinking...
Just so long as you don't say this same thing on Slashdot, the whole "ooh let's post first for attention" or now this new myminicity thing is really annoying!
on a lighter note, Merry Christmas! :-)
A: Put the content you don't want crawled on a different server and blacklist all known bots from connecting to that server.
B: Use a login script.
You know what's fun? Run the "undelete" or "unformat" utilities and see what turns up.
I know this probably applies less to "new" harddrives, but I bought a WD raptor ~a year ago off ebay, unformatted and thank-you-jesus I was awarded a clean XP Pro installation with Microsoft Office and the entire Macromedia suite! I couldn't get into the protected folders (ie: my documents) but the rest (ie: windows, program files, etc) were wiiiiide open!
Needless to say I'm not a fan of XP pro (Win 2000 or BUST!) so I formatted and lost it all again, but it was a fun experiment.
BUT, if you spent money on:
an infinitely duplicat-able (yes I know it's not a word) good, product or service
and spend such money in:
an environment with NO retribution for stealing other peoples said goods, products or services
then I have 2 and a half words: TOO F***IN BAD
until the developers decide to PREVENT the goods from being stolen, then don't buy them. period.
How can police have ANY sort of jurisdiction anyway? I don't get it...do the police LIVE in second life? Is there a court there?
A personal opinion is quite often the antithesis of a business opinion. No one is saying he's a nice guy, just that he knows how to run a company. There's no denying that!
Test #2:
First post! (in the reply to the second post...)
The best way to keep yourself safe? It's still not 100% effective, but like a condom it's pretty damn close:
Peer Guardian.
That's right folks, look it up, download, install, update and USE it. It's the best way to avoid those prying eyes!
If you can't do the job you were hired for, then find a new job. If you're more productive while walking around, become a postman.
Don't get me wrong. If you need to walk around occasionally to clear your head that's called human nature. If you need to walk around constantly to focus, that's called ADD and a desk job is probably not for you.

whoops replied to the wrong one, that was meant for Liam above (sorry)
