brewblog, not beerblog, sorry
If anything, it's the same language, just using a more efficient means of communicating it. If we were able to represent our language in a series of smells, would we be destroying it? It's all a bunch of symbols anyway...
Not to get all Platonic (Platonist?) on you!
I've found that's true for a lot of things. I'm OK at small talk, I'm excellent at public speaking. I get bored reading a book to myself, I can read aloud for hours. My handwriting sucks, but I'm not a bad artist. I know for a fact my brain is using different parts of itself for singing, reciting, writing, reading, etc... I don't see this as a surprise at all.
Though, on the GPs point, I have to agree. I try my hardest to use appropriate spelling and grammar. I rarely see that even in WORK related emails anymore.
While I don't suggest getting it if you play any FPSs or use VoIP, I use it fairly regularly for VPNs, downloading (roughly 500kb/s down once it gets going, though your bandwidth IS limited monthly) and most other functions.
Tech support. I am also in local politics though and respect the work the lawyers around me do.
What an asinine statement. Lawyers happened when it became too difficult for the lay man to understand the law. A Lawyer is there to interpret the written word. You have no idea what you are talking about, and commented like a 6 year old to prove it.
He's doing what he's paid to do. Have you ever seen the movie "Thank You For Smoking?" That's what a lobbyist does, and if you (not YOU you, the general you) obtain your "news" from such a one sided news source as Mr. Cleland then YOU are who he's pandering to!
If a rule is stupid and not thought out before implemented, there would be no way to avoid the resulting mess when someone fights it. I think that they are both fighting for stupid causes, and personally I don't care who "wins" I just hope that MY freedoms regarding speech aren't affected by the outcome.
Well let's be serious about this! Granted I'm using massive hyperbole and insane "guestimates" but...here we go:
71% of the current US population uses the internet. 71% of 3x10^8 = 213,000,000 US internet users. (A)
44% of all internet connections are broadband. I think it's safe to say there isn't much piracy over dialup (at least enough to ignore for the purpose of this demonstration.) That leaves 94 million broadband users in the US. (B)
Of that 94,000,000 people, it's said that 65% use it from home as opposed to work (C). I would assume most piracy is from home too, and not in the workplace. Even allowing tolerances of 10%, that means that of the 94,000,000 people, 70,000,000 people:
Are using the internet over broadband from home.
Of that 70,000,000 people, only 57% download music (D) leaving only 40,000,000 people to download music.
According to Wired, 200,000,000 people use iTunes (E). According to MacObserver, 100,000,000 people use iTunes (F). So let's say that only 20% of the worlds iTunes users are from the US. Of the 200,000,000 world users, only 40,000,000 are from the US.
Therefore, since there are 40,000,000 iTunes users in the US, and there are 40,000,000 individuals that download music in the US, all music downloaded MUST be legal...
...at least using piracy math!

That's not what happened here. Company B signs up to company A's site, agreeing to a terms of service. Company B breaks the law. Company A BOOTS company B. Why is Company A still being sued?
Gmail works fine on macs and in linux too...
Spam is a global network issue, nothing to do with what OS accesses it...
Personally I can't stand the guy. I think he's worse than a whistle blower, he appeals strictly to emotion as opposed to using logic, he is a gigantic hypocrite and he is extremely dishonest....
...but I'm reeeeally getting tired of that (very inaccurate) meme.
Yep that'd be about right. I had my first wireless router set up amongst my frat roomies in 2001. I currently have a wireless network at my house, at where I work and even in the coffee shop I visit most mornings.
No tumors so far! *crosses fingers*
I don't think China will ban the internet, but the internet in China will be more of a gigantic corporate intranet than a true internet. It's the only way they will be able to control at the levels they seem to believe is required.
Completely lame plug here, but Flo-Rida's song "Low" is the most hits of all lyrics I've transcribed (started in November)

Yeah more like, would you want to hire a thief to break into cars that the driver locked the keys in, or would you want to hire someone convicted of growing pot for your greenhouse. Same job, just different side of the law.
Yeah, now that the butt-sex laws were revoked that's all the cops HAVE against that particular demographic...
Slap? Get it? I'm just kidding!
It takes a pretty brave OR intelligent (most likely both) student to REALLY challenge their teacher. Unfortunately from a young age we're taught to accept what is given to us and to basically repeat what we're told. I'm scared to think about the impact this had on these students and even more scared to think that it will only perpetuate without intervention.
Re: Re: Mr Wallace
...public stoning?
Way ahead of you man ;)
