The Trump Administration Declares War On Chicago

from the still-waiting-for-the-gun-owners-to-ride-to-the-rescue dept

I, for one, cannot wait for the commenters to show up to call this headline hyperbole. mfers please. Why don’t you just read it for yourselves, in your own god-king’s words and images:

So, what are we looking at here, you might be asking if the embed didn’t load or you’ve averted your eyes in a last desperate act of self-preservation. And if you’re just visiting here from a more pleasant alternate timeline or have just awakened from a coma, I encourage you to brace yourself for what I’m about to describe.

It is an AI-generated image of Donald Trump as Robert Duvall’s character from Francis Ford Coppola’s “Apocalypse Now.” Wording written in the font used for the “Apocalypse Now” poster says “Chipocalypse Now,” which suggests an impending invasion of Chipotle restaurants, rather than the impending invasion of Chicago, Illinois or, at the very least, a war on snacks that ultimately won’t be profitable for Frito-Lay.

Behind Duvall/Trump are helicopters, some fire, and the Chicago city skyline. Above it is the worst thing of all: stuff falling out of Trump’s brain directly onto the social media platform owned by the president’s trust fund, as delivered by the president’s own Truth Social account:

“I love the smell of deportations in the morning…”

Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR [three helicopter emojis]

I would imagine deportations smell like sweaty white guys in balaclavas, but what do I know. And the whole “Department of WAR” thing would be risible enough if it used the proper name for that federal agency: the Department of Defense.

We shouldn’t be sending soldiers to US cities except in cases of extreme emergencies, like widespread violent riots or to assist in federal disaster relief efforts. That Trump has decided being on defense is too pansy-ass for a department run by a guy with a likely constant BAC of 0.10% only makes this more grotesque than it already is, since it’s clear Trump prefers his military to be on the attack, rather than simply do what it can to protect our freedoms without engaging in neo-colonialist takeovers of foreign countries or, especially, cities Trump simply doesn’t like.

Then there’s the choice of imagery. You’d think the government representing the free world would try to find iconic images that can be twisted to portray it as the good guy. But under Trump, the social media accounts associated with his administration have routinely (and perhaps deliberately) depicted the government and its agencies as conquering villains.

See also this post by a Border Patrol official, in which the government chose to take the form of Darth Vader casually slaying tons of rebel soldiers:

More specifically in terms of this post: Robert Duvall’s character was just another amoral monster freed by the violence of the Vietnam War. There are no heroes in “Apocalypse Now.” There are only varying shades of evil. The only thing surprising about this post by Trump is that he didn’t align himself with Colonel Kurtz. But then again, Trump appears to be extremely sensitive about his badly-hidden male pattern baldness. Maybe that’s why he chose the guy with the hat.

And that’s only one of several things wrong with all of this. The government should not be in the business of bringing about an apocalypse, much less threatening its own citizens with the possibility of discovering firsthand why this madman has re-branded the Department of Defense. Meanwhile, all the people claiming they need assault rifles for hunting and/or fending off government encroachment are still sitting at home, waiting for Obama to force the issue by finally coming for their guns.

All the “I didn’t vote for this” people need to put up or shut up. I voted against this and I’m stuck with the reality you people created. At some point, this is going to move from rhetoric to violent military action against US citizens. And all the voter’s regret in the world isn’t going to bring anyone back to life, much less restore this nation to what it was before these robber barons reclaimed the White House.

I’m sorry if my opinions have offended you in some way, but I don’t know why you’re so insistent on believing that I speak for everyone else here. Would you explain to me why you keep attacking me like this? I’d like to know if there is anything I can do to help prevent you from spiraling into an obsession that could hurt your mental health. Obsessions can be dangerous, you know.

Those aren’t the villains, to them. Go back to the reaction to superman, and it’s clear that they view the villains as the heroes. That is how inverted their views and values are.

Also apparently huffpost reported that it looks like ice has started and they arrested… A flower vendor. Also they are going around with gold pins of trumps head now.

Re:

I’m more inclined to imagine Trump as a sweaty obese psychotic Colonel Kurtz leading his team of human rights abusers and sycophantic Dennis Hopper “journalists,” except Kurtz had the excuse for a heart of darkness of having actually participated in a war instead of avoiding one while he pursued syphilis and sexually assaulting women.

All American Badass

The current BlueAnon conspiracy theory is that Trump is looking to expand the crime crackdown into numerous democrat cities in advance of the 2026 elections. They fear that the military will control the ballot boxes.

But I say they might be onto something. If ICE goes in and the illegals get deported by next summer, then there might not be enough “emergency votes” to win statewide elections, thereby leading to significant Republican wins. This LA/DC enforcement action has proven massively popular, and polling released over the weekend shows Trump receiving all-time approval highs. Middle America voted for this, and is loving it.

Re: Alles germanisch Badass

Koby Goebbels is here to tell you that der fuhrer isn’t as bad as you think he is, but also he’s just as bad as you think he is because every suspected power grab and rights abuse is on the table and denied until it’s perpetrated and then of course it was always the case and you love to be gaslit!

Especially note the continued refrain that “people voted for this” as if democracy is mob rule and the constitution and human rights don’t matter as long as 50.1% of voters want it, which is exactly what conservatives were decrying when the vote didn’t go their way. “We’re not a democracy, we’re a republic!” The narrative always shifts to serve the current purpose. Every accusation is indeed a confession.

Re: Reality Check, Koby

You liking something doesn’t make it popular, Koby.

And it’s clear this is motivated not by a “crime crackdown” — Chicago isn’t even in the top 20 cities in the US when it comes to violent crime, and crime overall is at some of the lowest rates in living memory. “Middle America” can believe otherwise all they want, but the reality doesn’t change.

But most important of all: this post is cringe and your defense of it is sad.

None of this is a distraction. None of this is part of some grand scheme to cover up some truly horrific actions. This is, in all sincerity, part of the right-wing plan to consolidate power in the hands of Donald Trump—and his successor, whether it be JD Vance or some other vile Republican weirdo. Those who think otherwise would do well to disabuse themselves of the notion.

Re: Re:

You obviously have some idea of what you want to say, but you seem so afraid to say it out loud. I promise that if you say what you mean and mean what you say, no one will criticize your honesty. What you say with that honesty may beget criticism, but you seem so eager to dole it out that you can surely take it in kind. So come on, tell us what’s really on your mind! 😃

Re: 'What if we did a Kent State but just... kept shooting?'

Do we really need to repeat Kent State to know how this plays out?

That’s the thing, they want a second Kent State. They want a bunch of ‘violent’ dead civilians gunned down by military troops both as a ‘flex of power’ and so that they can claim that they were right this whole time about how the cities they’re occupying are violent and lawless and therefore they are right in occupying and ‘liberating’ them from their current democratically elected officials.

They don’t see Kent State as a warning, they see it as step one.

Regime: Renames the Department of Defense to the Department of War.

Also the regime: ‘More than any other person in history our Dear Leader deserves a nobel prize for peace!’

The head of the regime idolizes and gushes about how much he adores dictators, the more brutal the better, is it any wonder that he’d picture himself as the villain in a movie and think that’s a flattering comparison?

Re: Re:

(TBF, since I’m on the subject, calling it the “Department of Defense” was always Orwellian horseshit and I’m not actually averse to changing it back to the Department of War because at least that’s honest.

Which is not to endorse our various foreign interventions and sure as hell isn’t to endorse the current war Trump’s declared on his own country.)

I have an account on this site, just got logged out ages ago and am too lazy to bother figuring out my old password or reset it. I don’t ever comment on here, this being the sole two exceptions in almost 10 years of reading here.

As to your request, I don’t talk to much of anyone that fits your criteria. Everyone I know that voted for him is rather open about.
I just enjoy seeing deportations among other things. Thinking more about it, I’d like to see the Epstein list get released but I knew when I voted the list seeing the light of day was long shot no matter which way the election went. Biden’s administration didn’t release it, trump’s might but unlikely, Kamala who knows but seeing how an administration under her would’ve likely been more a continuation of what we had under Biden I wasn’t going to hold my breath either way.

I will say though if the DOJ had released the Epstein files and shown conclusively Trump was there with kids back before the elections, you guys would’ve killed any chance of him winning and getting re-elected. I certainly wouldn’t have voted for him then.

“I need hard concrete evidence that a man who has been adjudicated as having committed a sexual assault, who bragged about using his power to creep on naked female contestants, who bragged about non-consensual kissing and groping of women, who sexualized his own daughter, who was accused of violence and rape by his ex-wife, who was good friends with a known pedophile rapist human trafficker…actually might have possibly done something bad and then I definitely maybe wouldn’t vote for him, unless maybe some woman of color runs against him and then it’s like my hands are tied!”
